Justin Romano, MD
Dr. Romano is a board certified psychiatrist at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
“So many fields of medicine are more focused on preventing people from dying, but psychiatry is more focused on helping people live their best lives. We are in a mental health crisis right now, especially for young people. I am so glad I am in a position to help them learn how to make the most out of their lives and heal from past traumas.”
His patient care philosophy is to help young people heal from the past – not simply use medications to mask the symptoms – and teach them how to grow into happy and functional individuals. When he is not caring for patients, he enjoys spending time with his family, rooting for the Denver Broncos, downhill skiing, cycling, hiking and paddle boarding.
He also hosts his own podcast called “Millennial Mental Health Channel” as a way to teach others about mental health.
Learning Objectives
- Participants will be able to define the term trauma informed care and it’s impact on children and teens.
- Participants can name two reasons why someone who has suffered past trauma may use more health care services.
- Participants can list three resources available to help clients who struggle with past trauma.
- Participants can give two examples of how social media use can impact mental health in teens.
Steve Tomajczyk
Steve Tomajczyk is an executive-level emergency manager who has responded to Public Health emergencies for 36-years at the county, regional, and state levels, including natural disasters, technological failures, public health emergencies, and suspect acts of terrorism.

Steve will give us an overview of how disaster response works, starting with the federal system and moving on to more detail locally. He will share examples of how faith communities have assisted in disasters and discuss resources available to you.
