Our mission is to support Faith Community Nursing and Health Ministries throughout the Rockies by promoting the care of the whole person with an intentional care of the spirit.
Goal
To provide an on-going support network offering education, information, and encouragement to those starting or continuing Faith Community Nurse and Health Ministries in faith communities.
History
Faith Community Nursing originally called parish nursing began in Colorado in 1988 with the first parish nurse employed by Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Mercy Hospital (now closed) in Denver, Colorado employed the first institutionally-based faith community nurse in 1991. Education programs on health ministry and (parish) faith community nursing were introduced through Mercy Hospital in 1992. Regional meetings for support of (parish) faith community nursing were held in Colorado Springs, Denver, and Fort Collins. Rocky Mountain Parish Health Ministry (RMPHM) was created in 1993 in Fort Collins, Colorado and was incorporated as a nonprofit 501c3 organization in 2002. The Colorado Parish Nurse Education Consortium comprised of University of Colorado Health Sciences School of Nursing, Penrose-St. Francis Health Services of Centura Health, Augustana Lutheran Church (Denver), and Rocky Mountain Parish Health Ministry was formed in 1999 and is an education partner of the International Parish Nurse Resource Center. In 2010, Rocky Mountain Parish Health Ministry and the Colorado Parish Nurse Education Consortium merged to offer education, support, and networking for faith community nursing and health ministry.

Rocky Mountain Parish Health Ministry (RMPHM) is an interfaith nonprofit group of nurses and other persons interested in health ministry governed by a volunteer board of directors
